ANOTHER CRAZY WEEKEND
Man, I had a feeling I'd end up going out this past weekend. Yup, I was right. With the amount of 'going out' I did in St. John's, you'd think I'd take a break. But this weekend there was just too much to pass up. It started with another classic college night at Heroes Pub. It really wasn't that busy there. I contribute this to the fact that it was snowing a lot that night. We just get back from seeing tonnes of the white stuff in Newfoundland and then we're welcomed back to Kamloops by the same stuff. Nonetheless, it was still a good showing.
I should have had something to eat prior to going out because the alcohol hit me on Thursday night, not too hard, just harder than I would have preferred. Our team's trivia skills didn't exist during the contest. Questions that we should have got right we didn't because we didn't hear it properly. We figured having Meghan enter the dance contest would give us a legitimate shot at winning that, but it just wasn't meant to be. She had to compete with people stripping, and two girls making out on the floor. Ah, yeah right. Meghan, Jessica and I went to Magnums afterwards to check it out. There wasn't really much to see. The place was totally empty. But I did meet a girl from Newfoundland which was really cool, but I never got her name. I told her about my trip and we shared a few laughs.
ROCK TRIVIA AND THE LATIN PARTY
On Friday night I went to both Rock Trivia at Heroes and the Latin Party. It was a fun night, although we only got second in Rock Trivia. Although we knew he was valuable, our disappointing result at the last Rock Trivia proved the importance of Scott Trudeau to our team. The 80's Lightning Round had the most bizarre mix of tunes that even Scott couldn't label.
Following Rock Trivia I hung out at Fred's place, and Auren took out his list of nearly every J-schooler and we made some phone calls. After some of that, we hung out at Heroes, and we headed over to Forsters for the Latin Party, and Scott went home. There were a lot of J-schoolers at Forsters, including Christina, Dani, Auren, Chris, Carlos, Fred, Ally, Kinga, Zaki, and myself. Also present were Christina's boyfriend Arne, Dani's roommate Sam, T-Bird and others.
Sam was drinking like a fish, later telling me he spent $75 there, and buying girls drinks as well. I figured my night wasn't going as planned when I started meeting more guys than girls. Ouch! At the end of the night we left to the spectacle of some guy passed out on the street who needed help to get back inside. To the rescue was Sam who, along with a few others, helped the man back on his feet.
SUPER BOWL 38
I can't believe it's Super Bowl 38 today! Steve Smith just caught a TD pass to tie the game against New England. The score is now 7-7 with only a minute left before halftime. For me, the Super Bowl has always been about the Halftime Show. One particular halftime show that I remember as being one of the best was a few years ago when Aerosmith teamed up with Britney Spears and Nelly to do their own rendition of Walk This Way. It was pretty good. Although this isn't the way I initially planned to watch the Super Bowl, I'm watching it from inside the journalism lab at UCC.
